WIC 2008
The first Writing Industries Conference was organised by the Literature Network in February 2008 at Loughborough University. Over fifty established authors, editors, agents and other writing industry professionals joined panel discussions on topics from commericial fiction and childrens literature to poetry and spoken word. One hundred and fifty delegates from the East Midlands and beyond including emerging and established writers attended the conference. Almost a hundred writers applied for one-to-one sessions with leading literary agents, for less than twenty places. The day provided an invaluable networking opportunity for the East Midlands writing community.
“The chance to listen to and meet so many professional writers was unique.”
“I intend to explore avenues through my writing that I have not considered prior to today.”
“Graham Joyce and Stephen Booth ROCK!”
The next Writing Industries Conference is scheduled for March 2010, and will be organised by the Literature Network with Writing East Midlands. It will once again feature leading experts in panel discussions, agent one-to-one sessions and the chance to network with other writers.
