Leicester author, Maxine Linnell’s first book, Vintage, published by Five Leaves takes place in 1962 and 2010. Holly and Marilyn are the same age in the same house in Leicester, but live in totally different times. What happens when they swap lives in a freak accident?

Deadly Dialogues: The Medieval Murderers

Authors Karen Maitland and Philip Gooden pay a visit to discuss their work including their latest venture with The Medieval Murderers. A group within the Crime Writers’ Association who promise mayhem, murder and medieval magic. Both Karen Maitland and Philip Gooden have contributed to a joint Medieval Murderers novel, The Sacred Stone, together with the other medieval crime writers. The book will be published in July 2010.

Deadly Dialogues: The Murder Squad
2pm, Nottingham Central Library
Leading crime authors Cath Staincliffe and Margaret Murphy in conversation about their work. They are members of the Murder Squad – a collective of six crime writers from the North of England.
Cath Staincliffe is the author of the acclaimed Sal Kilkenny mysteries and also a scriptwriter and creator of ITV’s hit police series, Blue Murder, featuring DCI Janine Lewis, played by Caroline Quentin. Margaret Murphy is the author of ten internationally acclaimed psychological thrillers. After a string of stand-alone novels, Margaret recently began her first series with The Dispossessed and Now You See Me. Her work has been shortlisted for the First Blood Award and for the Crime Writers’ Association Dagger in the Library. Visit www.murdersquad.co.uk for more information.

Off the Page: Bonnie Greer on ‘Entropy’
2pm, Nottingham Central Library
The Off the Page season kicks off with an informal opportunity to meet Bonnie Greer. Bonnie Greer has been living in Britain since the late 1980s. She is the author of two novels: “Hanging by Her Teeth” and “Entropy” and has written radio plays for BBC Radio 3 and Radio 4. A regular panellist on Newsnight Review, she was a panel member on the Question Time edition which also featured Nick Griffin, leader of the British National Party. An occasional writer for The Guardian, New Statesman, The Telegraph, The Independent, The Times, Time Out, RED and Marie Claire, Greer has won numerous prizes for her work including a Verity Bargate Award for Best New Play. She is also on the board of the British Museum, Serpentine Gallery, RADA and Franco-British Council. Bonnie will read from her latest books “Entropy” and “Obama Music” and discuss the differences between writing fact and fiction, with a Q and A followed by book signing.
