About
The Literature Network
The Literature Network is a nationally unique organisation connecting the literature community in each of the cities and counties of the East Midlands. The Literature Network maintains information resources for the literature community, organises networking and consultation events, supports the work and projects of leading literature practitioners and champions the valuable role of literature as a participatory artform.
The Literature Network currently includes a core membership of six Literature Development Officers based in local authorities and a Network Co-ordinator based at Charnwood Arts. It connects the wide and diverse range of organisations and individuals from readers and writers to producers, publishers and educators that form the literature community in the East Midlands.
In recent years the Literature Network has lead many of the East Midland’s highest profile literature projects. Appointing the regions first poet laureate for A Tale of Three Cities, producing the Freedom Showcase of spoken word art celebrating the Abolition of Slavery and organising first regional Writing Industries Conference. Members of the network deliver a host of project work from major festivals to one off community workshops in partnership with arts venues, libraries and thousands of individual readers and writers.
